Bridgend (Brocastle) is in the running to becoming one of four of Heathrow’s expansion Logistics Hubs, directly benefiting jobs and growth in Wales.

Along with 64 other potential sites, Bridgend aims to secure the off-site centre for construction and develop job opportunities whilst assisting in the expansion of one of the UK’s best known airport.

Located across the country, the Logistics Hubs will participate in construction of a third runway. Once completed, the final four selected locations will pre-assemble components of the expanded airport before transporting them in loads to Heathrow, playing a key role in supporting efficient delivery of Heathrow’s expansion.

The Logistics Hubs and Business Summits announcements demonstrate Heathrow’s commitment to ensure expansion is for all of the UK whilst transforming the way major infrastructure is built creating a legacy of high performance construction for future generations.

The Logistics Hubs also link directly into Heathrow’s sustainability objectives, by reducing emissions through transporting pre-assembled components to sites in fewer lorries. This method will assist in the delivery of Heathrow’s expansion faster and more economically, it will also minimise impact on local communities.
