Congratulations to long-time Bridgend Business Forum member, the Best Western Heronston Hotel & Spa on their recent award successes.

The popular Bridgend venue is celebrating a triple awards triumph after being awarded both the Green Tourism Silver Award and the Investors in People Accreditation Award, plus their Sous Chef Anthony Bush has recently been named as a Runner Up in the Chef of Wales 2017 Welsh International Culinary Championships.

Commenting on the hotel’s recent success, General Manager, Carolyn Powell said “We were delighted to be awarded the Green Tourism Silver Award for our continued commitment to environmental issues as we have held the Bronze Award for some time. We have always considered ourselves to be a great employer and the Investors in People Accreditation confirms our commitment to high performance through good people management. Many of our staff have been with us for a long time and have developed their careers with us and we are pleased to get recognition for this as we understand that it is people that make the difference to any business.”

Continuing, she said “We were absolutely thrilled when Anthony reached the finals of Chef of Wales 2017 held in north Wales in February. He really put the hotel’s name on the culinary map of Wales competing against the country’s top chefs from renowned establishments. He designed and prepared a three course menu to be cooked within three hours. We were so proud of him when we learned that he had been named as a runner up as it was the first time he had entered such a prestigious competition. There will be many people who now know the name of our hotel as a result.”

Off the back of these notable achievements, the hotel will be undergoing a major undefinedrefurbishment this year, incorporating all of their standard bedrooms and bathrooms, to prepare for them for the busy years ahead.

The Heronston Hotel & Spa is an established local favourite that contributes much to the local economy and we wish the hotel and its staff continued success with all future endeavours.
