The largest business property development scheme ever undertaken by Bridgend County Borough Council is underway.

Carwyn Jones AM joined councillors and officers at Village Farm Industrial Estate in Pyle recently to view the £5.5m plans for the Enterprise Hub Programme.

Using £2.3m EU funding and contributions from Welsh Government and Bridgend County Borough Council, the programme will create more than 2,600 square metres of new business units, including blocks at the Village Farm Industrial Estate in Pyle designed to suitable for light industry.

Subject to Welsh Government approval, new facilities will be created at Brocastle, and the Innovation Centre on Bridgend Science Park will be refurbished to accommodate modern business needs.

Around 58 businesses and 150 jobs will be supported by the initiative, which is being provided in partnership with Welsh Government as part of a plan to meet growing demand for commercial premises that are suitable for new or smaller enterprises.

Plans are currently being developed for the new enterprise hubs and it is anticipated that construction on the project will begin this year.
