Dubbed as the ‘Surfing Oscars’ – the UK Pro Surf Association 13th annual ‘Surf Awards’ in association with the UK Pro Surf Tour were held at the Carnmarth Hotel, Newquay, Cornwall.

The esteemed occasion brings together the UK’s surfing elite along with the professionals that make up the UK’s burgeoning surfing industry all against a glitzy backdrop of food, music and most importantly the prizes themselves. The awards encompassed all divisions for the Boy’s and Girl’s, Pro Junior to the Men’s and Women’s Open, and is representative of all corners of the UK scene.

This was the first year that the award has been presented, with the winner voted for by British surfers themselves.

A spokesperson for the UK Pro Surf Association said: “After an enormous response to the online vote, we had an exceptionally close run race between the top two. It came down to the last few hours of voting to eventually decide the winner. So congratulations go to Porthcawl Surf School!

“Hugh Murray and his team work tirelessly all year round (the only day they close is Christmas Day!) to make sure they offer the best possible experience for anyone wanting to learn to surf. And you clearly agree - a well-deserved winner!”

Hugh Murray said: “A huge thank you to everyone who voted for us and thanks to the UK Pro Surf Association for hosting the awards ceremony – we will be back next year!”
